OUR EXECUTIVE TEAM

Christine Houston, Managing Director

Christine Houston is the Founder and Managing Director of ESGI, a retained leadership advisory consulting firm. The firm is a strategic partner with its corporate clients, working with them to build the strong talent base.

The firm serves a range of diverse industry sectors, with the main areas of expertise in financial services, technology and real estate.

Ms. Houston entered the executive search profession in 1986 when she joined Korn/Ferry International. As a Partner in the New York office she led and managed cross-border searches with Asia. In 1990, she joined the New York office of TASA (now later known as TMP Search); in 1994 she became the Managing Partner of the Hong Kong office. During her tenure with TASA in Hong Kong, she headed the Financial Services and Technology Practices in Asia, including Japan.

Prior to entering the executive search profession, Ms. Houston was a Vice President and Managing Director of J. Walter Thompson – Japan. Her management positions at the corporate level include Director of Marketing for Revlon Japan, and executive positions with the International Division of Avon Products for the Japan and Latin American markets. Ms. Houston worked in Japan for seven years.

Ms. Houston holds an MBA from Fordham University in New York, and a B.A. in Economics from Hofstra University.

Ms. Houston’s experience and vast knowledge of the financial industry is highly sought after by numerous global consulting firms and think tanks. Currently she offers her advisory services as:

Board member of the OCA Acquisition Corp.; Chair of the Compensation Committee;
Senior Advisor – Olympus Capital;
Advisory Board (formerly) – Catalyst/US;
Founding member – Foreign Executive Women (FEW) in Japan.

Mainy Chan, Executive Director

Mainy Chan joined ESGI as a Consultant in 2000, was made a Principal in 2007, and in early 2008, she was appointed Executive Director. Ms. Chan manages a team of consultants and researchers responsible for conducting senior level searches across the asset management, insurance, banking and information technology sectors.

Ms. Chan began her financial career within the Planning and Development Department of a Hong Kong bank, where she acquired a solid understanding of banking products and services. She then set her sights on a career in executive recruitment, joining a major international search practice. While there, Ms. Chan focused on assignments for middle to senior level positions across a broad range of industries in the Asia Pacific region and developed an expertise within human resources, finance, sales and information technology positions.

Ms. Chan holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Hong Kong and an M.A. in Human Resources Management and Training from Leicester University. She is a member of the British Psychological Society and is also a qualified user of Aptitude Tests, Interest Inventories and Occupational Personality Questionnaires. She speaks fluent English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Fukien dialects.
